The 49th European Bridge Teams Championships will be held in Pau, France, from 14 to 28 June 2008.
It comprises three series - for Open, Women and Senior national teams. Each member country of the European Bridge League may enter one representative team in each category.
The Opening Ceremony will be on Saturday 14 June, and the Closing ceremony will be held on Saturday 28 June. Play in the Open Series will start on Sunday 15 June, in the Women's series on Thursday 19 June and for the Seniors Seriies on Saturday 21 June.
The Open series will be played as two complete round-robins: in the first round robin the teams will be divided into two groups, in accordance with their ranking in the preceeding 3 European Team Championships. At the end of the first round robin, the 9 best ranked teams from each group will qualify for the second round robin. The Championship will end for the remaining teams at this point. It is anticipated that matches will be of 20 boards.
The first Round robin will be played from Sunday 15 June - Saturday 21 June and the second from Sunday 22 - Saturday 28 June.
The Women's series will be played as a single, complete round robin starting on Thursday 19 June and ending on Saturday 28 June. It is anticipated that matches will be of 20 boards.
The Senior series will be played as a complete round robin provided that the number of participating countries is sufficient. It will start on Saturday 21 June and end on Saturday 28 June.It is anticipated that matches will be of 16 or 20 boards, depending on the number of matches played.
